Rental Insurance Terms & Conditions

1. Scope of Coverage

Our optional equipment insurance (the "Protection Plan") is designed to give you peace of mind on the water.

• Included: Covers accidental damage to boards, foils, wings, masts, booms, and sails during normal use.
• Extent: This covers the cost of repair or the depreciation value of the equipment resulting from an accident (max. coverage 900$ US)

2. Non-Covered Scenarios (Exclusions)

The Protection Plan does not apply in the following circumstances:

• Gross Negligence: Damage caused by sailing in restricted zones (e.g., swimming areas, rocky outcrops, or shallow reefs marked by the center).
• Loss or Theft: Total loss of equipment, including losing a wing or board at sea, or theft from the beach/vehicle.
• Shore Damage: Damage occurring on land due to improper securing of gear (e.g., leaving a wing unattended in high winds).
• Third-Party Liability: This insurance covers our equipment only. It does not cover injury to the renter or damage caused by the renter to third parties or their property.

3. Damage Assessment & Fees

In the event of an incident:

• With Insurance: The renter is exempt from repair costs for accidental breakage.
• Without Insurance: The renter is liable for the full MSRP of the replacement parts or the professional repair invoice plus a 20% diminished value fee.
• Total Loss: If the equipment is rendered unsalvageable, the renter is responsible for the full replacement cost at current market value, regardless of insurance status.

4. Renter Obligations

• Self-Rescue & Safety: Insurance does not waive the responsibility of the renter to return to shore safely. Emergency rescue fees may apply if the renter ignores weather warnings.
• Immediate Reporting: Any damage must be reported to the center staff immediately upon returning to shore.

Important Note: We highly recommend that all participants carry their own personal liability insurance that specifically covers "extreme water sports."
