I really love my experience there, the teacher who help me to understand and learn about windsurfing was very young and passionate about teaching. This is my 4th time returning to Vela in Caberete.
I come to wing foil and it’s the premier spot on the beach for sure! Full service including lessons, rentals, gear storage, wing repairs and a great bar and restaurant on site! I had an incredible experience at the Vela Watersports Centre in Cabarete! From the moment I arrived, the warm Caribbean breeze and the stunning view of Cabarete Bay set the scene for an unforgettable adventure. The team were super friendly, incredibly patient and supremely professional, and made learning wingfoiling a breeze. Special thanks to Jens and Audrey and Jens for their expert guidance and encouragement.

The gear was of a high standard, clean and well-maintained, and I felt safe and confident right from the first lesson. Whether you're a total beginner or looking to refine advanced skills such as carving and speed runs, the instructors will tailor everything to your pace with expertise and enthusiasm!

What truly sets Vela apart is the vibe—laid-back, welcoming, and full of local charm.

Vela is THE wind sports centre in cabarete. Jens and Audrey have been Wind, surfing, Kite surfing,  surfing and winging on cabarete beach for over 20 years. The selection of gear is awesome and the staff are great. Whether you’re a beginner intermediate or pro they’ll set you up and get you on the water. The community, the people you get to connect with before and after your session.

This place is absolutely incredible, not only for the top notch conditions for watersports, making it an unmatched destination for windsurfers, but especially for the team at Vela. Vela Cabarete Wing School is far more than a place to learn how to wing foil—it’s a vibrant, supportive community that welcomes you whether you’re there for a single day or settling in for a season.

From the moment we arrived, the entire Vela team radiated knowledge, professionalism, and genuine friendliness. My daughter, Claire did classes with Kai who was an amazing coach — starting with little experience, riding a 1650 foil and large board he confidently had her flying around on a 540 in just three weeks. That kind of progress doesn’t happen by accident; it’s the result of world-class teaching, a safe and encouraging environment, and a team that genuinely cares. The locals at Vela are extremely amazing and pillars of this community. If you happen to see Don, Nicolás or Kalibra they are full of knowledge. Even if your an observar it’s worth hanging out at the bar just to hear their stories from the day.

Safety was always a priority, and their attention to detail gave us full confidence every time we were on the water. The services offered are incredibly well thought-out and comprehensive, from gear rentals to logistics. Not to mention, their equipment storage was not only efficient and secure—it was the most affordable we found on the beach.

But what truly sets Vela Cabarete apart is the community they create. In just a short time, we made life-long friends and felt completely at home. You can see photos of my experience with them on my insta account @girlcankite
Everything was made easy—whether it was organizing lessons, accessing gear, or simply connecting with like-minded people who love the water.

Vela isn’t just a wing school—it’s a home base, a launchpad for progression, and a family for anyone lucky enough to walk through their doors. We can’t wait to come back. They made our summer!!! Shout out to Audrey Myer and Jens Myers Who not only own and run it -are the most kind and town to earth you’ll meet. I recently spent 3 weeks in Cabarete learning to wingfoil at Vela. Between the exceptional instruction, well maintained equipment and friendly staff, my experience was so much fun! I learned to wingfoil and made new friends from all over the world. I came away feeling a part of the community and am excited to go back in January. Cela fait plusieurs années que nous allons au Vela Cabarete et nous sommes tombés en amour avec l’endroit et les gens.

Audrey et Jens s’occuperont bien de vous durant votre séjour. Le service est excellent avec leur équipe qui préparent et descendent à l’eau votre équipement. Il y a aussi une école pour apprendre le wingfoil et le windsurfing. Vous y passerez du bon temps assurément!
